First film review in a while! I was honestly shocked at how good "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" was, and a bit mad. It was touching, well-crafted, and entertaining. The fact that this touches on serious issues of mortality and trauma is already impressive, but it is also a dynamic and engaging adventure movie.
I am taking my lovely daughter to her first theater experience tonight and can't wait to share this movie with her.
If you live in the Trail area, I highly recommend supporting the @royaltheatretrail - on Tuesdays you get a drink and popcorn included with your ticket! The recliner seats are heavenly, and the facilities are top notch. See you there!
While practicing life drawing skills, I did a few drawings of Spencer. I ended up filling in some empty space with song lyrics and he was incredibly skeptical of them. I did have to reassure him that he has never uttered anything that sappy.
I have classes coming up! Keep following my posts and stories at @artbyerinshut to see what’s coming next.
To contrast all the “new year, new me” posts, I had this lovely moment of self love the other day. Just happy in my skin and loving who I am today ❤️ I know it can be hard seeing bodies that are perfectly sculpted all over our feeds, but I encourage you to think of something that you genuinely love right now about yourself. Not the ideal you, or the social media version, just you in your skin, loving yourself.

Since I didn’t usually identify with the main character, I’d name the female party member after myself instead, opting to name the protagonist after my current crush 😳- at some point I got sick of restarting my game when I got a new crush, so I began leaving the default names.
]]>Kind of a different post! (And 9 days late…) I rang in the new year with some lovely people and wanted to make a comic to commemorate the evening. The fire was also quite fun to draw.
When confirming the amount of hangovers, I did get some fun stories of the party aftermath that I may make in the future. Spencer also took a few videos of me singing that I made him delete.
An oversized truck knocked down the internet yesterday afternoon so we decided to throw on a blu-ray to keep Tabby entertained. She asked for "Rings" and we are not the type of people to say no to a journey to Middle Earth. She mentioned that there's a "scary monkey" in it... as in Gollum 🤣
The internet was fixed before we could throw on Two Towers, which maybe was a good thing because we only own the Extended Editions.
Happy New Year to everyone and I hope we can practice compassion, kindness and patience with each other in 2023. I've got some workshops and events that I will be advertising more next week, once we recover from the holiday hangover.
Thank you all for supporting my little comic, and I hope to make more awesome stuff in 2023!
We can all be weird about our own couches, but it can be jarring when visiting others and encountering their own quirks! I tend to follow the host’s lead on drinks and feet up, etc, but sometimes a rule can come out of left field! What’s the weirdest couch rule you’ve encountered?
I asked you folks about your ideas in order to craft this comic. Thanks to @lizzyrhymeswithblue @kingbearington @authorbrittanyleonard @leannalovescoffee and @brookbrinson for submitting your quirks! It was funny to see overlap as well as very specific rules.
I’m hoping to sneak one more comic in before the new year, but I’m fighting off a cold and filling up my steam library, so if I’m not back at it before the 31st, happy new year!
I’ve had eczema most of my life, and it can get aggravated by stress as well. While it can be managed, it’s just been brutal with the extra stress of school and work.
I hope everyone is doing well! I’m trying to relax a bit with colouring and video games.
I wore a sweater backwards for an entire day, only noticing once Spencer got home.
It is my 30th birthday today and I am feeling very spoiled. I’m already more calm now that the day has come, and I’m enjoying all the visits and dinners I went to this past weekend. Thank you everyone for your kind words at my meltdown last week.
I’ve been in a funk for the past few days, partly due to finishing the semester and losing a lot of creative momentum. My birthday tends to hit me hard because it’s so close to the end of the year, and I end up reflecting on my accomplishments and setbacks. I’ve been dreading 30 for the past year, and I don’t think I ever could measure up to the expectations I’ve put on it at this point.
I’m trying to be kind and compassionate, and my mom helping me navigate these feelings was really helpful.
I know it’s a bit of a downer comic, but I’ve been thinking about this conversation a lot, and trying not to be hard on myself.
Waste not, want not. I swear, this kid surprises me every day.

]]>I was SO cold today. By 3pm I was curled up on the couch under an electric blanket. It doesn't help that I was wearing capris and my cat was in front of the heat register.
]]>21 images of birds in the mouths of predators, with facts about each species, information about conservation efforts, and what you can do to support bird populations around the world.
The widespread effects of bird predation are hard to quantify and devastating. In particular, ground-nesting and urban birds are at risk due to various forms of predation and environment loss. Whether they are directly being affected by feral cat colonies, or the victim of indirect predation after a window collision, bird populations around the world are dwindling.
A portion of this project's proceeds will be donated to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. Since birds are very difficult to track population-wise, more research needs to be funded, as well as support provided for current efforts, like cat and fox-free safe havens, reducing toxoplasmosis transmission, and feral cat colony management.
]]>I just couldn’t stop thinking about this leggy owl from last year’s Comictober. So I thought I would redraw the comic, as well as turn it into a block print! This means I’ll be able to make shirts and bags in the future. For now, I have a few prints available here: Long Leg Boi Lino Block Print

As we enter the holiday shopping season, remember to pay artists just like you would any other business owner. If you are part of an organization that doesn't have the funds to pay an artist, look into grants and community initiatives to find a way to properly compensate artists. As much as we like taking on fun projects, we also deserve to be paid for our time!
This is from a comic I drew over 4 years ago. It was pretty lazily done and kind of crappy, even compared to what I was capable of at the time. I decided to redraw it, since this is such an important message about fair wages for artists.

A friend of mine was very insistent on seeing Terrifier 2, and it luckily came to our small town theatre. Moments before heading over there, he mentioned that he hates clowns. Considering it’s a slasher film about a murderous clown… I was surprised at this last minute revelation.
The film definitely had its moments, but it didn’t really compare to “Irréversible” or “Martyrs”. There were long gaps between horror scenes, and most deaths weren’t any more gratuitous than “Hostel”. I do think it was stylistically interesting, and the effects were fantastic.
Tabitha is in her “why” phase and today I just couldn’t find an explanation for why she wasn’t allowed ice cream at 8am.
